New week, New family

Hey guys!

It's time to gather round and lift up another family. This is the Hirth family. Hi Hirths! They actually spent their honeymoon, 4 years ago, in Ethiopia. While they were there they met a young lady named Poppi (pictured here on the top right) who inspired them to learn more about empowering girls in developing countries. When they made the decision to adopt, they knew they wanted to give a girl a future. And they also wanted to give their two year old little guy, Hudson, a baby sister. So they are in the process of adopting a baby girl, age 0-2, from Ethiopia.

The Hirth family lives in Arkansas. Lindsay is a writer, and she volunteers for nonprofits. Bob is getting a PhD in business, studying social entrepreneurship and economic development in Africa. Their son Hudson is working on becoming a super hero and is excited to meet his sister.

So ladies, I ask you... is this the week we bust $1,000?! Please say yes. I'm dying here! We've come so close a few times. Let's round up the troops. Email your girlfriends. Join the Dollar Mob and you'll be supporting the Hirths adoption as well as 51 others in a year! It's over there on your right. That's a pretty good deal for $1 a week.Or just give to the Hirths this one time right here.

***UPDATE: I thought we'd keep a running total. I'll update you every day. So it's early Wednesday morning and the Hirths have received $293.

  2. Thank you so much for your kind words, Destiny. And thank you, Give 1 Save 1, for letting us be this week's family. It's humbling and an honor to receive this outpour of love and contributions, mostly from people we don't know. We appreciate all your support on this journey. It's already been quite the leap of faith!

  3. I gave my dollar yesterday and made my Give1Save1 speech in class this evening. I am hoping that I was persuasive enough to get a few to join the Dollar Mob!

  4. Colleen Daigle gave a very passionate speech tonight and it is on the strength of that speech that I have donated $5.00. I am not given to participate in charitable causes all that often but Colleen provided such a strong case for GIVE1SAVE1 that I could not say no. I hope you receive many donations over the coming years and good luck to Colleen and her family in their journey to adopt.

  7. I never donate but Colleen Daigle gave such a great persuasive speech and I told her if she sent the link I would help out. I donated $5 to the Hirth family and look foward to donating in the future.
